Malkangiri District Comes Alive on National Sports Day Honoring Dhyan Chand

Malkangiri,29 August,2023:-Malkangiri District, celebrated National Sports Day with vigor, commemorating hockey legend Dhyan Chand’s birthday on August 29. The District Sports Department orchestrated the event, witnessing enthusiastic participation.
The day commenced with a spirited marathon from DNK playground to the sports complex, inaugurated by Additional District Magistrate Mr. Vedbar Pradhan. Esteemed guests included District Sports Officer Mr. Dhruvacharan Muduli and District Employment Officer Mr. Manasvi Sethi.
Following the marathon, a gathering at the sports complex emphasized sports’ character-building significance. Mr. Muduli announced government funding for judo and archery infrastructure and applauded local athlete Ganesh Dhangdamajhi, slated to lead in the national rugby championship.
Mathili Tahasildar Mr. Chandan Bhoi remembered about Major Dhyan Chand’s hockey legacy and India’s Olympic triumphs. The event urged youth to embrace sports and unity, attended by athletes, students, and coaches.
Malkangiri College marked the occasion with Dr. Ranjan Kumar’s presence, and former Principal Ashok Kumar Shadangi as chief guest. Shadangi encouraged sports engagement, while Namitha Dandsena honored college achievers.
National Service Planning Officer Prem Rekha Bhotra and Sushant Majhi graced the event, motivating students. Exceptional students received plaques, fostering enthusiasm among 300 attendees.
