Bhubaneswar, May 13: For boozers, it’s a good piece of news! The Odisha excise department on Thursday allowed home delivery of liquor during the lockdown period which has been in force in the state since May 5 to prevent further spread of coronavirus.
Mr S K Lohani, excise department principal secretary, in a letter to the Excise Commissioner said that power has been delegated to District Collectors to take appropriate decision on home delivery of liquor after considering the prevailing situation in their respective districts.
The alcohol home delivery will be done by liquor shops including OFF and ON shops as well as food aggregators during the lockdown period, the letter said.
All depots of the Odisha State Beverage Corporation Ltd (OSBC) will operate for wholesale trade between 6 AM to 2 PM during the lockdown period, it read.
