Keonjharr, Sept. 25: The Odisha police has successfully solved the mysterious death of a woman whose body was recovered on September 20, 17 days after she reportedly went missing. What is quite intriguing is that the key accused, the husband of the deceased, reportedly confessed that he got his wife eliminated by two supari killers as she always “underestimated” him and questioned his “ability to provide her a decent life.”

The deceased woman was identified as Sunita Ghana.

The couple had a love marriage two years ago.

The police on Monday said it got information on September 20 that an identified body was floating in Malda river. Though it recovered the body immediately, it was a tough task to identify the body as it had decomposed beyond recognition. However, after thorough investigation it was established that the body was that of Sunita Ghana who was missing since September 3.

Keonjhar Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mahendra Murmu said Sunita’s husband Suresh Parida (32), as per a well-hatched conspiracy, took Sunita (30) on an outing on September 3 to Khandadhar waterfall located at a distance of 50 km from Keonjhar town. While returning home, she took her to a secluded place in the pretext of attending nature’s call. Two supari killers waiting at the secluded place overpowered the woman and strangulated her to death. Later, they dumped the body in the river.

On Monday, the family members of the Sunita brought serious allegation that she was subjected to sexual assault by the supari killers before being killed. They demanded that the accused be booked under charges of sexual assault and gang-rape.

“My sister was abducted, tortured, and brutally gangraped. The contract killers dumped her body in the river after subjecting her to inhuman treatment,” Subash Ghana, the brother of the deceased said.

When contacted, police said that they were waiting for the post-mortem reports that will reveal if the victim was gangraped or not.

“Currently, investigation is on to establish the murder incident. We are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the kind of torture Sunita was meted out before being killed. Suresh Parida, Sunita’s husband has already been arrested and the others involved in the crime will soon be apprehended,” informed SDPO Murmu.
