Odisha outsourcing employees hit streets demanding job regularisation
Bhubaneswar, march 25: Hundreds of outsourcing employees staged demonstrations at Lower PMG Square in Bhubaneswar demanding fulfillment of their various demands including regularisation of jobs, on Saturday.
According to sources, the outsourcing employees took out a massive rally and went to Lower PMG Square to press for their demands which include job security and salary hike.
The agitators also threatened to intensify their protest if their demands are not met at the earliest.
“We have been protesting since 2018 seeking fulfilment of our demands. In November last year, the CMO had called us and assured us that our demands will be fulfilled within a month. Even though, four months have passed nothing has been done except a couple of meetings with the Chief Secretary,” said Sanjay Patnaik, president of outsourcing employees.
We will continue our protest until our demands are met,” Patnaik added.
An agitator said, “We are forced to hit the streets again as the government is not paying any heed to our repeated demands. We hope our protest may help the government to wake up from its slumber.”
It is worthwhile to mention here that, the Service Provider Agencies (SPAs) of the Odisha government were put under ‘Mo Sarkar ’ in February this year.
The government had decided to felicitate those agencies that are giving salaries to their employees regularly and properly. If any organisation is found to be falling behind as far as staff remuneration is concerned, they will be flagged and if required, those agencies will be black-listed.
