Jajpur , May 21 : A man was arrested on Tuesday in Jajpur district on the charges of assaulting and kidnapping a leader of BJD on Monday evening.

The arrested person has been identified as Deepak Deo(40) of Baragadia village . He along with four miscreants forcefully kidnapped and attacked Rohit Khuntia (30) a BJD youth leader of Damodarpur village under Sukinda police station.

The accused has been booked on charges of kidnapping and attacking Rohit . Other accused fled from their villages . We are raiding their hideouts to nab them, said the IIC of Sukinda police station, Bilwamangal Sethi.

The mother of Rohit lodged an FIR in Sukinda police station on Monday night and alleged that Deepak Deo and others assaulted his son with iron roads at Sukinda Chhack after kidnapping him as a result he suffered serious injuries.

The injured man was first admitted to the Community Health Center (CHC) at Danagadi . Later he was shifted to SCB medical college and hospital at Cuttack for his treatment as his condition was serious, added the police officer.
