NEW DELHI,MAR 15 : A march by leaders of several Opposition parties to the Enforcement Directorate office was blocked by the Delhi Police soon after it started from Parliament on Wednesday. The leaders were demanding a probe into the Adani issue.

The Delhi Police increased security measures outside the ED office and told the leaders if they do not call off the protest, they will be detained as Section 144 is in effect.

When they could not move ahead, leaders of 18 Opposition parties called off the march and returned to Parliament. They have sought an appointment with the ED.

Earlier in the day, the leaders met in the office of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge in Parliament House complex to coordinate their joint strategy on the issue. The Opposition leaders had decided to go to the ED office to submit a complaint and press for an investigation into the Adani-Hindenburg row.

The BJP called it the “march of the corrupt”.

The Opposition has been demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani-Hindenburg row.

US short seller Hindenburg Research had alleged that the Adani group was “engaged in brazen stock manipulation and accounting fraud”, and used offshore shell companies to inflate stock prices. The Adani group denied the allegations, calling them “malicious”, “baseless” and a “calculated attack on India”.
