Over Rs 2 crore in ‘unclaimed’ cash, 1kg gold found in basement of govt office in Jaipur
Rajasthan,May 20 : Rajasthan government officials found unclaimed cash amounting to Rs 2.31 crore and 1 kg gold bar at Yojana Bhawan, a government building. Around 7-8 people from the department have been detained for questioning, police said.
The cash was recovered by Jaipur city police based on specific inputs of Mahesh Gupta, Additional Director. In a late night press conference along with the Chief Secretary Usha Sharma and DGP, Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava said the Additional Director of the IT Department informed the police that they had found cash and a gold bar in their basement.
“More than Rs 2.31 crores of cash and about 1 kg of gold biscuits have been found in a bag kept in a cupboard at the basement of the Government Office Yojana Bhawan in Jaipur. Under 102 CrPC, police have seized these notes and a team has been found to investigate this matter,” Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Kumar Srivastava was quoted by ANI as saying.
“CCTV footage is being searched. CM Ashok Gehlot has also been informed regarding the same,” Anand Kumar Srivastava added further.
