Owners to pay Rs 10k, treat injured victims in case of pet attacks: Noida Authority
NEW DELHI,NOV 13: In wake of the increase in dog-bite incidents in the city and nearby areas over the past few months, the Noida Authority has decided to impose a fine of Rs 10,000 on owners in case of pet dog or cat attacks from March 1, 2023. The Noida Authority also decided to put the onus of the victim’s treatment on the owners.
The Noida Authority held a board meeting on Saturday to discuss the issue of stray dog menace and pet attacks. After the meeting, the Noida Authority issued an order stating that from March 1, 2023, in case of any untoward incident due to a pet dog or cat, a Rs 10,000 monetary penalty will be imposed on the owner and the injured person or animal will be treated by the owner.
Under the rules of the Animal Welfare Board, the Noida Authority has also issued detailed guidelines in the meeting to determine the policies. The Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority has issued an order under which registration of pet dogs and cats is mandatory by March 2023 via the Noida Authority pet registration app. A penalty will be imposed in case of non-registration.
Sterilisation and anti-rabies vaccination of pet dogs have been made mandatory and in case of violation (from 01.03.2023), a fine of Rs 2,000 per month has been imposed.
With the consent of RWA/AOA/village residents, the construction of dog shelters for sick/furious/aggressive street dogs will be undertaken, whose maintenance will be the responsibility of the concerned RWA / AOA.
Requirement marking of feeding place in outdoor area and arrangement of food and drink will be done by feeders / RWA / AOA only.
If a pet dog litters in a public place, it will be the responsibility of the animal owner to clean it.
