Paradip, Oct. 27: Paradip Port Authority (PPA) organised a series of public outreach initiatives, including a ‘Stride for Integrity’ Walkathon, a Satarkata Rath and street plays, as part of the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week celebrations to promote transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in public life.

The initiatives aimed to raise awareness about the adverse effects of corruption and encourage citizens to actively participate in the collective effort to build a corruption-free society.

The ‘Stride for Integrity’ Walkathon was flagged off by Shri R. N. Abanikanta Parida, IRPS, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of PPA, carrying the message of PPA Chairperson Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit.

The walkathon began at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue in Paradip and proceeded towards the PPA Officers’ Club and Township. It witnessed enthusiastic participation from PPA officials and employees, CISF personnel, port users, school students and local residents.

Participants carried messages promoting ethical behaviour, transparency and collective responsibility in the fight against corruption. The walkathon highlighted the importance of public participation in strengthening institutional integrity and fostering a culture of accountability.

The Satarkata Rath was also deployed as part of the awareness campaign to reach a wider section of the public. The initiative sought to encourage citizens to remain vigilant against corrupt practices and contribute to the creation of a transparent and accountable society.

As part of the outreach programme, cultural organisation CANMASS staged street plays titled “Epata Dekh, Sepate Dekh” at two locations in Paradip — the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue and Kabarkhana Market.

Through engaging storytelling and dramatic performances, the artists highlighted the harmful consequences of corruption and underlined the significance of ethical behaviour, accountability and collective action in preventing corrupt practices.

The street plays sought to connect with the public through an interactive cultural medium, reinforcing the message that combating corruption requires sustained awareness and active participation from all sections of society.

The initiatives reaffirmed Paradip Port Authority’s commitment to promoting integrity, transparency and accountability in public service. Through sustained awareness campaigns and community engagement, PPA continues to encourage collective responsibility in the pursuit of a corruption-free society.
