PM Modi to lay foundation stone for permanent campus of IIM-Sambalpur

SAMBALPUR (ODISHA), JAN.1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur on January 2, 2021. He will attend the event through video-conferencing in the presence of Odisha governor Professor Ganeshi Lal, chief minister Naveen Patnaik, Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries.
IIM Sambalpur authorities informed that over 5,000 dignitaries will attend the mega event virtually.
“IIM Sambalpur has been able to achieve success by sticking to the core values of inclusion, innovation and integrity. The institute has embraced an innovative shift in its teaching, from teacher-centric to learner-centric,” said IIM Sambalpur Director, Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal.
Jaiswal said IIM Sambalpur is the first IIM to implement the idea of flipped classrooms, a learning environment where the basic concepts are taught in digital mode while experimental learning happens through live projects from the industry.
The Odisha government has provided 200 acres of land for the construction of the proposed campus. The Ministry of Education has extended administrative support and granted financial aid of Rs 401.97 crore for the project, said Jaiswal.
The proposed campus of IIM Sambalpur will be equipped with State-of-the-art infrastructure with energy efficient green features as per GRIHA standards. It will be a green campus with maximum usuage of renewable energy. The project will be completed by April 2022, Jaiswal added.
