PM Modi’s ‘daro mat, bhago mat’ jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s Raebareli move
NEW DELHI, MAY 3: Hours after the Congress party announced Rahul Gandhi as its pick from the Raebareli constituency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the result of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was clear. He also reminded that he had earlier said Rahul Gandhi was finding a new seat, other than Wayanad.
Addressing an election rally in West Bengal’s Bardhaman-Durgapur, PM Modi asserted, “The result of this election is clear. No need for any opinion polls. I had said this earlier, ‘shehzada’ (Rahul Gandhi) will also lose from Wayanad. And will therefore look for a second seat.”
“And now he is scared to fight at Amethi and ran away to Raebareli. I want to tell him, ‘Daro Mat, Bhago Mat’ (don’t be scared, don’t run away),” the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi also said, “The Congress wants to change the Constitution, snatch Dalit and Other Backward Classes (OBC) quotas, and provide reservation to ‘jihadi’ vote bank.”
Slamming the Opposition, PM Narendra Modi said, “They (Opposition) cannot bring development. They only know how to divide the society for the sake of votes.
Referring to Trinamool MLA Humayun Kabir, the Prime Minister said, “A TMC MLA gave an open threat. He said that they would drown Hindus in Bhagirathi in just two hours. What is this language and political culture? What is happening to Hindus in Bengal? Looks like the Trinamool has made the Hindus second citizens in West Bengal.”
(While campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, Humayun Kabir, had allegedly threatened to “drown Hindus in the Bhagirathi River within two hours”, and said else he would retire from active politics.)
“The people of Left, the Trinamool Congress, and the Congress party don’t have a vision for development. Left totally destroyed Tripura. They served for 35 years. In the last five years, the BJP has completely changed Tripura. It’s not their cup of tea to develop the country,” PM Modi said.
During his rally, the Prime Minister also spoke on the Sandeshkhali row, and said, “I want to ask the Trinamool, in Sandeshkhali, our Dalit sisters were served huge injustice. The whole country was demanding action. The Trinamool Congress was seen shielding the culprit.”
“Was the reason that the name of the culprit was Sheikh Shahjahan? The Trinamool is busy in appeasement. Can a vote bank be above humanity?” the Prime Minister asked.
Also speaking on the upcoming elections, the Prime Minister said, “There is only one dream of Modi-to fulfill your dreams. I need blessings so that I can serve you all and the country. I have nothing with me. You are all family to me. All I have is you and I will only work for your children.”
