Police-Youth interaction “Project Sampark” held at PN Autonomous College, Khordha

Khordha, Nov.8:  In a bid to foster understanding and cooperation between young people and law enforcement, PN Autonomous College in Khordha hosted a Police-Youth Interaction meeting as part of “Project Sampark.” This initiative, led by local law enforcement, aims to build stronger, more collaborative relationships between the youth and the police.

The event was presided over by Prof. Suvendu Mohanty, Head of the Economics Department, who emphasized the importance of community-driven efforts like Project Sampark. Prasanta Kumar Majhi, Deputy Superintendent of Police of the District Intelligence Bureau in Khordha, introduced the program, outlining its mission to create a sense of partnership between young citizens and law enforcement.

Dr. Binodini Mishra, Principal of PN Autonomous College, spoke on the responsibility of educational institutions in instilling civic values and fostering mutual respect among citizens and law enforcement. The keynote speech was delivered by Mrs. Sagarika Nath, Superintendent of Police, Khordha, IPS, who discussed the importance of adhering to the law, mental well-being, and responsible social media use. She highlighted the necessity of traffic law compliance and career development opportunities, especially for women, encouraging their active participation in various fields for empowerment and growth.

In her speech, Mrs. Nath emphasized how mutual respect, legal awareness, and social responsibility are crucial for community development. A special moment during the event was the recognition of two young athletes from Khordha, Samsad Ara Begum and Sanaya Ara Begum. Samsad, a graduate from the Government College of Physical Education, Bhubaneswar, has achieved notable success, including a gold medal in the 5000m event at the 67th Odisha State Athletic Meet. Her sister, Sanaya, a science student at Haladia College, Khordha, has also made strides in athletics, winning a bronze medal in the 400m event at the state level.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. Dr. Pranab Kishore Mohanty, Vice-Principal of PN Autonomous College. Among the senior officials in attendance were Surendra Nath Murmu, Additional SP, Khordha; Srinibas Mohanty, Additional SP, Khordha; Anil Kumar Mohanty, SDPO, Khordha; and Mrs. Gayatri Mishra, IIC, Industrial Police Station, Khordha.

Project Sampark continues to play a vital role in connecting youth with law enforcement, aiming to strengthen community ties and build a safer, more aware society.
