PPA observes 52nd Safety Week with ‘Our Aim – Zero Harm’ theme

Paradip, March 11: “Our Aim – Zero Harm” as the theme, 52nd National Safety Week is being observed by Paradip Port Authority on Friday came to an end.
Shri P.L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA lowered the National Safety week Flag, this afternoon at an event held at Gate No. 4, in presence of Dy.Chairman, Shri A.K.Bose, Asst.Director, Dock safety along with other HODs and PPA officials and various stakeholders.
A tribunal salute was offered by Shri P.K. Kar, Safety Officer, PPA. Addressing the gathering, Shri Haranadh stressed on mandatory annual health checkup of individual employees. With mechanization of all berths in coming years dumper movement in the cargo operational area is expected to be minimal. Road flyovers at level crossing will further ensure safety of human lives. 21 kilometre arterial concrete road with drainage area is being executed in the Port prohibited area. As safety and productivity go hand in hand employees must be imparted training and equipped with safety equipments to meet with any eventuality.
Guest of Honour Shri A.K.Bose, Dy.Chairman, PPA called upon all the stakeholders to avoid near miss cases, analyse the causes and take precaution to eliminate them.
Accidents can be avoided if we follow safety norms properly. Additional Asst.Director, Dock safety Shri Somasekhar Bajaramath stated that productivity will increase by incorporating safety norms. We shouldn’t sign off safety as the week concludes, but continue this throughout the year. Safety Rath and Safety Rally have been the major highlights of the week long celebrations.
Thereafter, the winners of various competitions like safety essay, debate and poster competitions organised on the occasion were awarded. Captain A.C. Sahoo, CME I/c gave the welcome address and called upon all the stakeholders to make Safety as a teamwork. Shri P.K. Kar, Safety Officer, PPA offered the vote of thanks.
