Mumbai,Feb 17:  Social media influencer Sapna Gill, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting India opener Prithvi Shaw, was sent into the custody of Mumbai police till February 20 by the Andheri Court on Friday. Sapna was one of eight people arrested by Oshiwara Police after the incident under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (143, 148, 149, 384, 437, 504, 506).

Sapna, on the other hand, not only denied any wrongdoing but also accused Prithvi Shaw of physical assault. “Sapna was assaulted by Prithvi. A stick was seen in Prithvi’s hand. Prithvi’s friends assaulted the group first. Sapna is currently at Oshiwara police station. The police are not allowing her to go for medical treatment,” Gill’s lawyer Ali Kashif has claimed.

Prithvi Shaw had denied the group selfies and had them evicted from a hotel where he was dining with a friend. Shaw was called up to the T20i squad for a three-match home series against the BlackCaps in January. However, the Mumbai opener was not selected for the starting XI.

Sapna’s lawyer argued that Prithvi Shaw was trying to kill the social media influencer and she was trying to avoid him. The lawyer also stated that Prithvi Shaw has a habit of alcohol and that is why he has been banned by the BCCI.

The lawyer also argued that Sapna didn’t ask for Rs 50000 rupees to end the matter. Furthermore, Sapna’s lawyer also stated that the police need to investigate the matter properly. He added that the CCTV should be checked and Sapna had been attacked by Prithvi Shaw.
