Probe agency’s ninth summons to Arvind Kejriwal day after he gets court relief
NEW DELHI, MAR 17: A day after a Delhi court on Saturday granted Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal bail in two complaints filed by the Enforcement Directorate for skipping summons, fresh summons were issued to him by the Enforcement Directorate on Sunday.
In the ninth summons, the probe agency has asked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo to appear before it on March 21, in a money laundering case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.
On Saturday, the court directed the Enforcement Directorate to hand over the documents related to the complaints against Kejriwal.
“Offence being bailable, accused Arvind Kejriwal is admitted to bail,” it said.
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate had filed two complaints before the magisterial court, seeking Kejriwal’s prosecution for skipping multiple summonses issued to him in the case.
The latest complaint pertains to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, not honouring summons number 4 to 8 sent by the federal probe agency under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Notably, the Enforcement Directorate has summoned him eight times, but Kejriwal has skipped them.
In a reply to his last summons, Kejriwal told the federal agency’s officials that they could record his statement via video conferencing after March 12.
