Pune, May 24 :  Pune Police commissioner Amitesh Kumar has denied allegations that the 17-year-old boy involved in the Porsche accident was served “pizzas and burgers” in custody following the incident on May 19. The Pune top cop’s clarification comes amid allegations by the opposition that the 17-year-old, son of a real estate developer, was given preferential treatment by the police.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that the juvenile spent Rs 69,000 at the two pubs he visited hours before he allegedly rammed his luxury vehicle into a bike on May 19, immediately killing two people. The teen’s family has, however, claimed that their driver was behind the wheel when the accident happened.

The accident, which occurred in Kalyani Nagar area, led to the deaths of two young IT professionals – Aneesh Awadhiya and his friend Ashwini Koshta.

The 17-year-old boy involved in the Porsche accident in Pune spent Rs 69,000 at the two pubs he visited hours before he allegedly rammed his luxury vehicle into a bike on May 19. The teen and his friends consumed liquor worth Rs 48,000 at Cozy Bar. After the bar stopped serving them, they went to BlaK Marriott Club and spent Rs 21,000.

Investigation by the police has revealed that the juvenile, who has been sent to an observation home, has been driving without a licence since several months. The teen used to drive an Audi owned by his father previously.

Meanwhile, the 17-year-old boy has claimed that his family driver was driving the Porsche when the accident happened. The minor’s two friends, who were with him at the time of the accident, have backed his claims. The driver was questioned on Thursday.

On Thursday, police questioned the grandfather of the 17-year-old boy as the Porsche was registered in the name of the realty firm owned by the Agarwals. Surendra Kumar Agarwal, the grandfather of the accused, is one of the owners of the firm. CBI sources said Surendra Agarwal was facing trial in a shootout case for allegedly making payments to gangster Chhota Rajan.

The police have already arrested the teen’s father. Following outrage over swift bail and the police’s review plea, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) on Wednesday remanded the boy to an observation home till June 5.
