Radhika stood like a rock as I battled health issues: Anant Ambani
MUMBAI, FEB 28 : Anant Ambani, youngest heir to Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance behemoth, praised fiance Radhika Merchant for being a support like no other especially during his struggle with health issues. “She’s the person of my dreams,” the 28-year-old Anant told India Today’s News Director Rahul Kanwal in a candid chat ahead of their pre-wedding celebrations in Gujarat’s Jamnagar.
Several Indian and international artistes, pop-icon Rihanna, Arijit Singh and Diljit Dosanjh are set to perform in the celebrations which will begin from March 1 at the sprawling Reliance Greens Complex in Jamnagar. Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg are also said to be in attendance.
Anant Ambani told India Today, “I am lucky (to have her) for sure. She is the person of my dreams. Since childhood, I had thought that I would never get married because I was always devoted to taking care of animals. But when I met Radhika, I saw her sharing the same values as me. She has this sense of giving and nurturing towards animals.”
His mother, Nita Ambani had revealed in an earlier interview that he suffers from asthma which makes his weight-loss journey difficult.
Mentioning how Radhika has supported him in his healthcare journey, Anant Ambani shared, “Beyond that, Radhika has stood like a strong pillar of support during my difficult times, as I battled with health issues. Even my parents never made me feel like I was ill. Even when doctors gave up on certain things, they never did. Additionally, Radhika gave me strength.”
He reiterated that he was able to battle his health issues only due to constant support from his family and Radhika.
“They always told me to not give up and keep fighting, especially for someone who has battled health issues since childhood. There are many people in more pain than me, hence I am grateful to God for everything. I have never paid attention to anything anyone says. It’s their job to gossip, but for me, my family and their support is of the utmost importance,” he added.
The guestlist of the pre-wedding celebrations runs over 1,000 attendees, including Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, as well as southern superstar Rajinikanth.
