Schools for classes 6 and 7 in Odisha to reopen from Nov 15
Students will have flexibility to attend classes on online, offline modes

Bhubaneswar, Nov. 11: Schools for Class 6 and 7 students will reopen from November 15. Physical classes for these students will be conducted while strictly following all the Covid-19 protocols, informed state school and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Wednesday.
“All preparation has been made for reopening of schools for Class 6 and 7. However, we are yet to take a decision regarding reopening of schools for Classes 1 to 5,” the minister informed.
As per the official notice, “The teaching hour for Class-VI and Class-VII students will be from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm (out of which three hours will be used for teaching), excluding Sundays and public holidays. The students are allowed to attend classes either on online mode or offline mode in consultation with their parents.
“Attendance is not mandatory for students in Offline mode. School hostels are also allowed to open. Heads of the hostels are required to ensure that the common areas like mess and toilets are maintained and sanitised properly with regular intervals,” the notice added.
All district education officers and block level officers have been directed to visit all the schools before the reopening and ensure that the school premises have been cleaned and class rooms are sanitized thoroughly.
The minister had on Sunday informed that the schools for classes 1 to 7 will reopen in a phased manner while looking at the Covid situation.
“Discussion on resumption of physical classes for primary students is underway with the deliberation of every aspect, including the Covid situation at present. Reopening the schools in a phased manner is a judicious process and a final decision in this regard will be taken soon,” the minister had said.
The Odisha government had allowed the resumption of physical mode of classes for Standard 11 and 8 from October 21 and October 25, 2021, respectively. Schools for class 10 and 12 students were resumed from July 26, 2021.
