Seven killed, 45 injured in bus accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor
CHITTOOR,MARCH 27: In a tragic incident, seven persons were killed and 45 others suffered injuries when a bus carrying 52 passengers fell into a 50-feet gorge in Bhakarapeta ghat road in Chittoor district. The incident took place at around 10:30 pm on Saturday when the passengers travelling in the bus are on their way to attend an marriage engagement function in a village close to Nagari.
According to Tirupati Urban Police, the group of 52 persons hailed from Dharmavaram in Anantapur district have started to attend an engagement function to be held in a village close to Nagari. When the bus crossed the Bhakarapeta ghat road and moving towards Tirupati it fell into gorge due to overspeeding.
Passersby informed to Chandragiri police. Chandragiri Police rushed to the spot and taken up rescue operation. A team of police, Fire Safety have reached the spot and lifted the passengers from the gorge. The injured were shifted to SVR Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati.
Tirupati Urban SP Ch Venkata Appala Naidu visited Ruia hospital and inquired about the incident with the injured.
Chittoor Collector M.Harinarayanan instructed the officials to provide quality treatment to the injured at the hospital. State Panchayat Raj and Rural Development minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy inquire on the incident and he is going to visit Ruia hospital.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
