Bhubaneswar, Nov. 2: It’s shame again. Amid the rising cases of violence against women in Odisha, another shocking case of gang rape has surfaced in the state Bhubaneswar.
As per the allegations, the woman was gang raped on the pretext of providing her shelter by two persons.
Reportedly, the survivor had come to Bhubaneswar on Tuesday evening for some work but could not return as it was pretty late. The two accused had then approached her on the pretext of taking her to a safer place for night stay.
However, they took her to a secluded place and allegedly raped her. One of the accused is reportedly from Chandanpur while the other is from Angul district.
The lady had come to Bhubaneswar court on October 30 evening but she could not return to her destination. She was roaming near the Ram Mandir when one of the accused told her that he had a place where she can spend the night. However, he raped her there along with another person, informed Kharavela Nagar Police Station inspector Rajinikanth Mishra.
“On October 31, the woman had brought the gang rape allegations and lodged a case with the Kharavela Nagar police. After visiting the spot and the preliminary probe, we established the identity of the two accused. We arrested the duo last night and they have also confessed to the crime,” added Mishra.
