Sonia, Priyanka join Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in Delhi
NEW DELHI,DEC 24: The Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by party leader Rahul Gandhi, entered Delhi early Saturday morning and was accorded a warm welcome by a large number of party workers at the Badarpur border. In a massive show of strength, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and general secretary of the AICC in charge of Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra along with her Sonia, Priyanka join Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in Delhihusband Robert Vadra joined RaGa.
Sonia Gandhi, wearing a face mask, walked with her son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for a few minutes before the yatra reached the Ashram Chowk here for the morning halt.
A large number of people, including party workers and senior Congress leaders, were seen walking alongside Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi on the streets of Delhi. The yatra entered Delhi from the Faridabad side in Haryana. Delhi unit chief Anil Chaudhary welcomed Gandhi and the Yatris at the Delhi border in Badarpur and Congress MLA Jitu Patwari was also seen at the yatra.
Later on, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi joined Rahul Gandhi during the yatra. This is the second time Sonia Gandhi has joined the yatra. Earlier, she had taken part in the Congress’ mega march in Karnataka in October. Priyanka Gandhi had joined the yatra in Madhya Pradesh.
Senior party leaders, including former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala, Shaktisinh Gohil and others accompanied Rahul Gandhi as part of the yatra. In view of the Bharat Jodo Yatra entering the national capital, security was heightened from Badarpur to Ashram and barricades were erected on the roads. Multiple teams of police personnel were also deployed at multiple points to maintain the law and order situation.
