NEW DELHI,DEC 10:Former Congress’s Himachal Pradesh unit chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is expected to be the next chief minister of the hill state after the party’s high command gave its nod, sources said. His name is likely to be announced as the next Himachal CM by later this evening.

Sukhu, however, said he was not aware of the decision made by the Congress high command.

“I am not yet aware of the decision of the high command. I am going to the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting which will happen at 5 pm,” ANI quoted Sukhu as saying.

Reports suggest that Congress has finalised the name of the 58-year-old MLA from Nadaun for the next Himachal CM’s face. The official announcement will follow after the meeting with newly-elected MLAs is concluded in Shimla on Saturday evening. He is likely to take the oath on Sunday, news agency PTI stated.

Congress wrested power from BJP’s Jairam Thakur after the grand old party bagged 40 of 68 Assembly seats. A party needed to secure 35 seats to form a government in Himachal and the BJP managed to secure 25 seats there.
