New Delhi,May 29 : The Supreme Court will not hear Arvind Kejriwal’s request for a seven-day extension of his interim bail in a money-laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy. The court registry refused to accept the application, saying since Arvind Kejriwal was given liberty to move the trial court for regular bail, the plea is not maintainable.

AAP chief has sought a seven-day extension to his interim bail, set to expire on June 1, on medical grounds. Kejriwal, in his bail extension plea, said, “Unexplained weight loss is a symptom of life-threatening diseases. My health condition is partly attributable to the callous behaviour of the jail authorities. Another week of bail will allow me to take a stock of health complications.”

Yesterday, the court had refused an urgent hearing of Arvind Kejriwal’s bail extension plea, saying it will place the matter before Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

“This (plea) has been heard and reserved… Let this be placed before the Chief Justice and let him take a call. We will place it before the Chief Justice,” it said.

The court, on May 10, granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections and asked him to surrender on June 2, a day after the last phase of the seven-phase poll gets over.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection to the liquor policy case.
