Berhampur, Odisha, Jan. 3: Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has made a groundbreaking shift by transforming its corporate office in Berhampur into a fully solar-powered ‘Green Office.’ This initiative underscores TPSODL’s commitment to promoting renewable energy and eco-friendly practices across Southern Odisha.

The company has installed a 100KW rooftop solar plant at its headquarters in Berhampur, Ganjam district. This plant generates approximately 12,000 units of electricity per month, fully meeting the office’s energy requirements while producing a surplus. Over the next 25 years, this project is expected to eliminate around 2,800 tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, reaffirming TPSODL’s dedication to reducing its carbon footprint and advancing sustainable energy solutions.

The ‘Green Office Initiative’ was officially launched on New Year’s Day, symbolizing a fresh and sustainable beginning. From this point onward, the corporate office will operate entirely on solar energy, aligning with TPSODL’s vision of a greener, more sustainable future.

Commenting on the achievement, Amit Kumar Garg, CEO of TPSODL, said:

“We are proud to announce that our corporate office is now a Green Office. By switching to solar energy, we are setting an example of sustainable living and affordable energy solutions. TPSODL is dedicated to promoting solar adoption throughout Southern Odisha and leading the way in building a greener future.”

This milestone is part of TPSODL’s approved capital expenditure for the current financial year under a government initiative. The company has also outlined plans to solarize all its office buildings across Southern Odisha. By reducing reliance on traditional energy sources, TPSODL aims to foster a culture of renewable energy and inspire the local community to adopt eco-friendly practices.

Notably, the solar project was implemented in phases, with an initial capacity of 48.9KW commissioned earlier. The entire system is now fully operational, marking a significant step forward in TPSODL’s sustainability journey.
