Tata Steel’s Odisha Iron Ore, Manganese & Chromite Mines Bag 15 Awards at MEMC Event

Joda, May 27 : Tata Steel’s Iron ore, Manganese and Chromite mines in Odisha have bagged 15 awards at the 26th Mine Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) 2024-25 final day event organised under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Bhubaneswar region at Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Tata Steel’s Joda East Iron Ore Mine received first prize in Mineral Beneficiation under Group-A category.
The mine also received 2nd prize in the much-coveted Overall Performance, under same category.
Similarly, Khondbond Iron and Manganese mine and Katamati Mine were awarded 2nd prize in Environmental Monitoring and Mineral Conservation respectively, under Group-A category.
Officials of respective mines received the awards from Piyush Narayan Sharma, Chief Controller General, IBM, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
On the occasion, Neelachl Mine won second prize for Environmental Monitoring under Category-B.
In the event, Sukinda Chromite Mine won 3rd prize for Reclamation and Rehabilitation under Group-C category while Kamarda Mine won 1st and 2nd prize for Sustainable Development and Systematic and Scientific Development, respectively under Group-D category.
Saruabil Mine 1st prize for Mineral Conservation under Group-C.
Joda West Mine won 1st prize in Sustainable Development and 2nd position each in Overall Performance and Waste Dump Management under Group-C category.
