Malkangiri Odisha: In a strong demonstration today, about 500 teachers from various schools led by President Biswanath Sabar and Secretary Gadadhar Sethy  gathered before the Collectorate,Malkangiri to protest against the lack of promotions and the reservation policy. Despite being qualified and experienced, a large number of teachers are still classified as level-1 and level-2 employees, and the promotion process seems to be stuck.

One of the main issues that the teachers highlighted was the reservation policy, which has been implemented to provide opportunities to individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. However, the reservation promotion has now crossed the limit of 50%, reaching 61.25%. This has created a bottleneck in the promotion process, leaving many qualified teachers behind.

The teachers demanded that the reservation policy be reconsidered and that promotions be based solely on merit and qualifications. They argued that the current system is not only unfair to those who deserve promotion but also has a negative impact on the quality of education being provided to students.

The protestors emphasized that they were not against the reservation policy itself but rather the way it is being implemented. They urged the authorities to find a more balanced and equitable way to ensure that all deserving candidates are given the opportunity to grow and advance in their careers.

The teachers submitted a memorandum to the Collector highlighting their grievances and seeking a resolution to the issue. This incident highlights the growing concern over promotion policies and reservation limits in the education sector.

The situation is being closely monitored by the concerned authorities, and further developments are awaited.
