THE OLD CLERK
Subrat Panigrahy (OAS)
The Sun has set like
a million times eve.
And as the neon floods
the haze of the city.
The Old Clerk heads back home
the same he has traversed, ad-infinitum.
He unwinds himself
from the day long maze,
his head wobbles, he
swaggers and staggers.
The thoughts about home and all
therein to threaten
to bring back the dormant pain,
he so dreads.
For he is the Sole Provender
of half a dozen futures.
An Irony he is forever ignored,
as he hears his own dirge
and death knell;
And he knows it would not
Be far away.
