Balasore, Oct 26: TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has been recognised as a Gold Category Winner with a 4-Star Rating at the World Safety Organization (WSO) India State-Level Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (OHS&E) Awards 2026. The recognition for the Assessment Year 2025 follows an onsite assessment and evaluation by the WSO jury. On behalf of TPNODL, the award was received by Mr. Tapan Patra, HoD – Safety, along with Mr. Rajesh Kumar Mohanta, Assistant Executive Engineer and Mr. Dilu Rout at a special event held at Mumbai.
The assessment covered TPNODL’s occupational health, safety and environmental practices across its electricity distribution operations in the five districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj, with an emphasis on workplace risk management and the implementation of safety procedures by employees and business associates.
Given the risks associated with electricity distribution, TPNODL’s safety approach focuses on hazard identification, adherence to standard operating procedures, use of personal protective equipment, regular training and emergency preparedness. These measures aim to prevent incidents, protect personnel and support continuity of service in the region.
Commenting on the recognition, Mr. Dushyant Kumar Tyagi, Chief Executive Officer, TPNODL, said, “Safety is a shared responsibility that must guide every task and decision. Our focus is on ensuring that employees and business associates identify risks before work begins, follow prescribed safeguards and report unsafe conditions. This recognition reinforces our responsibility to sustain these practices and continually improve how we protect our workforce and the communities we serve.”
TPNODL also undertakes public awareness initiatives to build understanding of electrical hazards and promote safe practices through community engagement, consumer communication and seasonal safety campaigns. These initiatives address risks associated with everyday electricity use, festivals and adverse weather, while encouraging timely reporting of unsafe conditions to help prevent accidents.
TPNODL continues to focus on strengthening its safety culture through preventive measures, workforce well-being initiatives, and continuous process enhancement.
