TPWODL Mega Enforcement Drive Against Power Theft Benefits Consumers with Safer and More Reliable Electricity Supply

Burla, September 23: TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), the power distribution company in western Odisha has intensified its enforcement drive against electricity theft, ensuring safer and reliable power supply for genuine consumers.
In September, TPWODL booked 4,647 theft cases covering an unauthorized load of 12 MW, and collected ₹42.27 lakh on-spot, contributing to a total recovery of ₹1.64 crore so far. This action not only protects revenue but also ensures that honest consumers are not burdened due to illegal usage.
Alongside, TPWODL facilitated consumers by processing 552 new connections, installing 79 meters instantly, resolving 343 complaints, and replacing 473 faulty meters to improve supply quality and billing accuracy. TPWODL has also carried out 213 dehooking operations to curb illegal hooking, ensuring safer and more reliable electricity for all.
This is not out of place to mention that power, which is consumed by unauthorized means, is procured by the distribution company. The quantum loss of electricity consumed by unauthorized means is again loaded on to the consumers—those who consume in fair means and pay the bills regularly.
TPWODL urges consumers to avoid illegal electricity use, which is not only unsafe and punishable under law but also unfair to honest customers. A dedicated helpline – 8093061179 – is available for the public to report power theft confidentially.
