Balangir, May 2: -A two-day national seminar on ‘Materials for a Sustainable and Smart World’ was organized on February 27 and 28 by the Department of Physics and Chemistry, Rajendra University,in collaboration with PM-USHA.The seminar was inaugurated by the university’s Vice-Chancellor,Prof. Pradipta Kumar Behera,as the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Prof.Rajakishore Patra,Chairman of the Post-Graduate Council,as the guest of honor,and Prof. Bhupendra N. Dev from TCG CREST,Kolkata, as the keynote speaker. Dr.Jagajjit Kamila, Head of the Physics Department,served as the convener,while Dr. Archanamayee Behera,Head of the Chemistry Department, co-convened the event.Dr. Jitendra Kumar Pradhan,Assistant Professor of Physics,and Dr. Gajendra Kumar Pradhan,Assistant Professor of Chemistry,were also part of the organizing team.

The seminar featured expert talks from various renowned scientists,including Prof. Prasanna Kumar Sahu from IIT Kharagpur, Prof.Shantanu Chattopadhyay from CDAC Pune,Dr.Venkates Sinha from NIT Rourkela, and others.They discussed topics related to Materials for a Sustainable and Smart World (MSSW-2026) and highlighted the importance of science in creating a sustainable future.

On February 28,National Science Day was celebrated,commemorating the contributions of Nobel laureate C.V. Raman. Discussions were held on the role of women scientists in building a developed India.The seminar also honored Dr. Satyanarayan Chaulia,a retired senior assistant professor from the Chemistry Department.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Archanamayee Behera.The seminar was attended by faculty members,students, and researchers from various universities and colleges,making it a successful and enriching experience for all participants.
