NEW DELHI,FEB 12 : The seventh aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) carrying relief assistance for earthquake victims landed in Adana on Sunday under ‘Operation Dost’.

The IAF C 17 Globemaster landed with 13 tonnes of medical equipment for Turkey and 24 tonnes of assistance for Syrian quake-hit victims.

Indian ambassador Dr Virender Paul and defence attache Col Manuj Garg received the consignment along with Turkish officials at Adana airport.

From the Turkish foreign affairs ministry, Ambassador Mehmet received the consignment including ventilator machines, anesthesia machines and other equipment and medicines for 60 Para Field Hospital at Iskenderun, Turkey.

As per the information, 400 patients are being treated every day at the Indian Army hospital.

Huge earthquakes struck Turkey and Syria, leaving over 28,000 people dead and several thousand injured or displaced.

The first quake, near Gaziantep close to the Syrian border, measured 7.8 in magnitude. The second occurred nine hours later and measured 7.6 on the Richter scale.

The earthquakes have wreaked devastation in Turkey and Syria, with search and rescue operations continuing unabated since tragedy struck the two nations.
