Veteran freedom fighter passed away at 102

Jajpur, May 17 : Noted freedom fighter Ananta Charan Dhal died at the age of 102 in his residence at village Arangabad under Bari block in Jajpur district on Sunday night.
He was suffering from old age ailment for the last two years. The veteran freedom fighter had taken a lead role in launching anti-British movement in August, 1942. Dhal was imprisoned in Berhampur jail for two years during the “Quit India” movement from 1942 to 1944 . He also worked with the noted freedom fighters Malati Chaudhury ,Nabakrushna Chaudhury , Harekrushna Mahatab , Rama Devi , Saraswati Devi and others during the freedom movement.
Former union minister Srikant Jena, former finance minister Prafulla chandra Ghadei, former Bari MLA Debashis Nayak , Bari MLA Sunanda Das and others condoled his death.
