Victory Day in Chitrakonda: Janturai Village Overcomes Maoist Onslaught

Malkangiri, Jan. 26: Janturai village in Odisha’s Malkangiri district witnessed a jubilant celebration Thursday marking the triumph over Maoist terror. The victory commemorates an incident on 25.01.2020 when Maoists unsuccessfully attacked the village. However, the villagers retaliated in which militant was killed and another was severely injured.
Since the establishment of a Border Security Force (BSF) camp, the fearless efforts of jawans have bolstered the villagers’ confidence and provided protection.
District superintendent of police (SP) Nitesh Wadwani celebrated the victory by raising the flag, symbolizing the eradication of Maoist fear. A public relations camp, graced by SP Nitesh Wadwani, featured the distribution of sports equipment to young women, shawls to women, and educational materials to children.
Mr. Wadwani acknowledged the collective efforts of villagers, emphasizing the village’s liberation from Maoists. He expressed gratitude for the villagers’ cooperation, asserting that the progress and development of Janturai village are thriving under the protection and collaboration of its resilient community.
