VISWASS College of Nursing and Utkal Hospital Organize Blood Donation Camp to Promote Voluntary Donation

Bhubaneswar, Sept. 24: In a significant step towards fostering community health and awareness, VISWASS College of Nursing, in collaboration with Utkal Hospital Blood Bank, successfully organized a Blood Donation Camp on Tuesday.
The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of voluntary blood donation and encourage students, staff, and the local community to contribute towards saving lives.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Benudhar Satapathy, Head of Department, Blood Bank, Utkal Hospital; Dr. Pragyan Ranjan Gharai, Chairman, VISWASS; Dr. Laxminarayan Panda, Director, VISWASS; and Prof. Satyabhama Mishra, Chairperson, VISWASS. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries underscored that donating blood is a noble act of service to humanity and called for greater youth participation in such initiatives.
Faculty members, nursing students, and non-teaching staff of VISWASS actively took part in the camp, inspiring others to join the cause. The Utkal Hospital Blood Bank team ensured thorough screening of donors and adhered to strict safety and hygiene protocols. Donors were presented with refreshments and appreciation certificates in recognition of their contribution.
The camp successfully collected 30 units of blood. Organizers noted that the enthusiastic participation of students reflected their growing sense of social responsibility and commitment to public health.
Concluding the event with a vote of thanks, the organizers emphasized that such initiatives not only help bridge the demand for blood but also instill compassion, empathy, and a spirit of service among young healthcare professionals.
