VISWASS Nursing School, College observe Swami Vivekananda Jayanti

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 14:VISWASS Nursing School and College celebrated Swami Vivekananda Jayanti with enthusiasm and reverence on January 12, 2026. The programme was organised in two phases at the institution’s main gate and its multipurpose hall.
In the first phase, dignitaries, faculty members, staff and students gathered at the main gate of the institution. The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by floral tributes to the portrait of Swami Vivekananda, paying homage to the great philosopher and visionary.
The second phase of the celebration was held in the multipurpose hall. It commenced with the lighting of the lamp and a welcome dance presented by the students. Professor Satyabhama Mishra, Principal of VISWASS College of Nursing, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the significance of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pragyan Ranjan Gharai, Chairman of VISWASS, Dr. Nandini Gharai, Secretary of VISWASS, and Dr. A.K. Bahinipati, Principal of VISWASS Paramedical College, spoke on the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s ideals in contemporary education. They emphasised values such as discipline, moral integrity, service to humanity and the crucial role of youth in nation-building.
A special interactive session was conducted by Er. Santap Kumar Jena, Executive Engineer (Civil), AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and Head of the Vani Department, Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, Odisha Prant. He shared insights with students on character building, self-confidence, dedication and the importance of drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s teachings. The guests were felicitated as a mark of respect and appreciation.
The programme also featured student competitions including fancy dress, speech and instant art, which witnessed enthusiastic participation. The celebration concluded with the distribution of prizes and a vote of thanks.
