We will win 70/70 seats if I contest from jail: Arvind Kejriwal
NEW DELHI, MAY 24: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Keriwal has said that the Aam Aadmi Party would win 70 out of 70 seats in Delhi if he remains in jail till the next Assembly election.
In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Arvind Kejriwal was asked if his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, would contest elections in Delhi if he remains in jail.
On this, Kejriwal said, “She won’t contest (elections). If they keep me in jail, I will contest election from there and I am confident that we will win 70 out of 70 seats. The people will answer.”

“Put all our MLAs in jail and let the voting take place in Delhi. Do they think people are fools? The people see everything,” he added.
When asked why he did not leave the chief minister’s post even after he was jailed in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, Kejriwal said, “This is what they Modi ji wants. He knows he can’t defeat me in Delhi and hence this whole conspiracy has been hatched… If I resign, the next target will be Mamata Banerjee in Bengal, Pinarayi Vijayan in Kerala, MK Stalin in Tamil Nadu and so on. They (BJP) want to arrest opposition leaders and down their governments.”
The AAP supremo emphasised that he did not crave power but if he resigns, it will “harm the democracy”.
“I am not hungry for power. I left the Income Tax commissioner’s post to work in slums. I quit from the government after 49 days (in 2013). But it is a part of our struggle that I am not quitting as chief minister this time,” he said.
