Malkangiri, 14.06.2024 – World Blood Donor Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the district level, organized Health and Family Welfare Deptt. in Malkangiri, where the chief guest, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Somnath Pradhan, inaugurated the camp by flagging off the green flag.The Blood Bank Officer, Sagar Bala, welcomed the attendees, setting the tone for a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of blood donation. District Youth Red Cross Secretary, Ranjan Kuma Swain, presided over the program and introduced the distinguished guests.

A rally, signifying the day’s importance, commenced from the Old Hospital and concluded at the New District Headquarters Hospital, Malkangiri. Dr. Prafulla Kumar Nanda, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Malkangiri, presided over the rally. The keynote address was delivered by Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) Dr. Braja Das, who elucidated the significance of World Blood Donor Day.Dr. Muhammad Hussain, the guest of honor and ADMO, encouraged youth groups above eighteen years old to demonstrate their bravery by donating blood voluntarily every three months. His call to action aimed to inspire a new generation of regular blood donors.

The event was further graced by the presence of former MLA Manas Madkami, Deputy Commandant of the Border Security Force Suranjan Mohapatra, Orthopedic Department Doctor Sapan Dinda, and Dr. Subrata Kumar Jena. These esteemed individuals played a significant role in inducting new blood donors.The event saw active participation from students, lecturers, journalists, Youth Red Cross members, and intellectuals, all contributing to the success of the day. Guests were warmly welcomed with rose flowers, symbolizing gratitude and respect.

More than 150 blood donors and prospective donors attended the program, resulting in the collection of ten blood samples. The event highlighted the critical role of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and maintaining a stable blood supply for medical emergencies.Overall, the celebration of World Blood Donor Day in Malkangiri was a testament to community spirit and the collective effort to promote the life-saving practice of blood donation.
