Bhubaneswar, July 16:<\/strong> Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd (OHPC) has partnered with the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Hydro Power Training Centre, Nangal, to enhance workforce capabilities, strengthen technical expertise and prepare employees for the evolving demands of the hydropower sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 13 as part of OHPC’s strategy to build a future-ready workforce capable of driving operational excellence and supporting Odisha’s clean energy goals, an official communication said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU was signed by OHPC Director (HR) Sandeep Patnaik and NPTI Hydro Power Training Centre Director Shekhar Ishwardas Mahanta in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the partnership, OHPC employees will undergo structured training programmes covering advanced technical learning, simulator-based training, leadership development and continuous professional education. The initiative seeks to equip engineers, executives and technical personnel with the skills required to adapt to emerging technologies, evolving operational standards and global best practices in hydropower generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials said the collaboration will offer specialised training modules tailored to the operational needs of hydroelectric utilities while promoting knowledge exchange between NPTI experts and OHPC professionals. The programmes are expected to enhance technical proficiency, strengthen managerial capabilities and facilitate the adoption of modern operational practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NPTI’s Hydro Power Training Centre at Nangal, functioning under the Ministry of Power, is one of the country’s premier institutions for capacity building in the power sector. It provides specialised training in hydroelectric generation, plant operation and maintenance, safety, grid management and emerging technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership comes at a time when India’s power sector is placing greater emphasis on workforce reskilling amid rapid technological advancements, digitalisation and the transition to cleaner energy sources. Capacity building has become crucial for improving plant efficiency, operational reliability and long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For OHPC, which operates several hydroelectric projects across Odisha, the collaboration is expected to strengthen institutional capabilities, improve safety and operational efficiency, and build a skilled workforce capable of supporting the state’s renewable energy ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
