RAIPUR\/ Chhattisgarh, Aug 8 : In a striking display of resilience, dignity, and newfound confidence, feet that once traversed the rugged, hostile terrains of dense forests stepped gracefully onto a fashion runway in Chhattisgarh’s capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the occasion of National Handloom Day, the Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur witnessed an exciting transformation as surrendered women Naxalites walked the ramp alongside professional models in a grand Swadeshi fashion show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dressed in exquisite local Kosa silk and traditional handloom attire, the women from Bastar\u2019s rehabilitation centres commanded the spotlight, drawing thunderous applause from a spellbound audience. For many of these women\u2014who had spent years in armed insurgency, surviving fierce jungle encounters\u2014this was not just a fashion show, but a defining moment of redemption and integration into mainstream society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai interacted with the former Maoist women during the event, praising their courage and extending his warmest wishes for their bright futures. Notably, for nearly all the participants, this event marked their very first visit to Raipur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Behind this seamless runway appearance was an intensive week-long training and grooming program organised in Raipur. A professional trainer, from Mumbai mentored these participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“They came from deeply affected conflict zones with a lot of hesitation and nervousness. But through constant grooming, practice, body language training, and encouragement, their confidence soared. On the final day, the poise and confidence with which they shared the stage with professional models was a glowing testimony to their transformation,\u201d the trainers affirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the participants Madvi Malle said, \u201dI was very nervous on the first day. Regular practice brought out my self-assurance. It felt wonderful walking the ramp.\u201d Another former Maoist Punem Deve felt she never imagined walking on a ramp before so many spectators in her life. \u201cThe respect I received here inspired me to keep moving forward,\u201d she exclaimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
