{"id":157056,"date":"2026-10-15T20:08:27","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T14:38:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/?p=157056"},"modified":"2026-10-15T20:08:28","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T14:38:28","slug":"state-to-establish-2-spawn-units-and-200-mushroom-processing-units-per-district-strict-warning-issued-against-daos-delaying-oil-palm-clearances-minister-hazarika","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/state-to-establish-2-spawn-units-and-200-mushroom-processing-units-per-district-strict-warning-issued-against-daos-delaying-oil-palm-clearances-minister-hazarika\/","title":{"rendered":"State to establish 2 spawn units and 200 mushroom processing units per district; strict warning issued against DAOs delaying oil palm clearances: Minister Hazarika"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Dalim Phukan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guwahati\/Assam, Oct 15: Minister for Agriculture, Irrigation, and Parliamentary Affairs Pijush Hazarika today interacted with mushroom growers on National Mushroom Day at the Assam Administrative Staff College, reviewing challenges and outlining developmental measures for the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Later in the day, he chaired a crucial meeting with oil palm companies to review expansion strategies across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing the mushroom farmers, Minister Hazarika emphasized the need to boost in-state spawn production and instructed department officials to conduct year-round skill training across all districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To strengthen infrastructure, he announced that the Agriculture Department will establish two spawn production units per district starting next year with an allocation of Rs 10 lakh per unit, alongside setting up 200 mushroom processing units statewide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;He also announced exposure training trips to states like West Bengal for local growers and State Government\u2019s plan to grant Rs 1 lakh each to 1,000 progressive farmers from next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To reduce Assam&#8217;s reliance on external imports for daily essentials, the Minister advocated for adopting multi-cropping models and encouraged women to take up mushroom farming to enhance family incomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;He urged farmers to utilize the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), reminding them that AIF loans are collateral-free and asking applicants to notify the department if banks demand collateral.
