The petitions have been filed by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders, who have raised concerns over alleged large-scale voter deletions and irregularities in the revision exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Court\u2019s notice does not mean that the allegations made by the petitioners have been accepted. Rather, it provides an opportunity for the Election Commission to present its position and respond to the concerns raised before the judiciary. The Court has also tagged these petitions with other matters already pending before it concerning the validity of SIR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The controversy is important because the electoral roll is the foundation of representative democracy. If a genuine voter is unable to find their name on the electoral list, their fundamental democratic participation can be affected. At the same time, maintaining accurate electoral rolls is equally important to ensure that only eligible citizens participate in elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where transparency becomes critical. The process of adding or removing names from electoral rolls must be clear, verifiable and accessible to citizens. Voters should know how to check their names, correct errors and raise objections when necessary.<br>The present political debate should therefore go beyond allegations and counter-allegations. The real question is whether every eligible citizen can confidently exercise their right to vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Democracy ultimately depends not only on political parties and institutions but also on citizens. Your vote is your voice. It&#8217;s upon the system to be loud and be clear.
