{"id":126422,"date":"2024-08-13T16:46:48","date_gmt":"2024-08-13T11:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/?p=126422"},"modified":"2024-08-13T16:46:49","modified_gmt":"2024-08-13T11:16:49","slug":"kolkata-medic-rape-murder-case-hc-orders-cbi-probe-urges-doctors-to-end-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/kolkata-medic-rape-murder-case-hc-orders-cbi-probe-urges-doctors-to-end-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"Kolkata medic rape-murder case: HC orders CBI probe, urges doctors to end strike"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"caps\">Kolkata, Aug 13 : &nbsp;Calcutta High court on Tuesday has ordered CBI probe in the case of rape and murder of a 31-year-old junior doctor who was found dead in a seminar hall at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court directed the police to hand over all the documents related to CBI by 10 am on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HC also urged the agitating doctors to call off their strike, stating that they have a \u2018pious obligation\u2019 to resume work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Human Rights Commission has also taken suo motu cognizance of the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in the day, the court asked why a murder case was not registered at the outset and an unnatural death case was initiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The division bench presided by the Chief Justice said the body of the postgraduate trainee was not found on the roadside, and the superintendent or the principal of the hospital could have filed the complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doctors protest against the sexual assault and killing of a postgraduate trainee doctor in Kolkata, in New Delhi, Monday, Aug. 12, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doctor rape-murder case: HC asks Kolkata hospital&#8217;s ex-principal to go on leave, slams his reappointment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The body of the doctor, who was allegedly raped and murdered inside a seminar hall of the RG Kar hospital, was found on Friday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A civic volunteer was arrested in this connection on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parents of the postgraduate trainee had moved the HC, seeking a court-monitored investigation in the case.
