HYDERABAD, OCT 29 : Fifteen people fell ill after consuming momos from a roadside stall in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills, and a 31-year-old woman reportedly died after eating the snack at a different location in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police reports indicate that all ten victims consumed momos prepared by the same vendor, although they bought them from different stalls within the Banjara Hills police jurisdiction last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the police, the woman and others ate momos from a food stall named ‘Delhi Momos’. The stall, located in Chintal Basti, had been set up around three months ago by six men who had come from Bihar. The police said that those operating the stalls have been taken into custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A family member of the woman, who died after eating momos, complained to police that she fell sick after eating the snack and was later admitted to a hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A local, while speaking to reporters, claimed that the woman started showing symptoms of food poisoning an hour after consuming the snack. He said that the woman died around 8.30 am on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated an investigation into the vendor’s operations. Food safety officials, in collaboration with police, located the stall and discovered it was operating without a valid licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They collected food samples for analysis and have ordered the vendor to cease all business activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The GHMC has also requested the Banjara Hills police to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter to determine the cause of the woman’s death and the illnesses affecting the other individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution when consuming street food, especially from unlicensed vendors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
