CHHATISHGARH, JAN 9 : A major accident occurred at an under-construction plant in Chhattisgarh\u2019s Raigarh district on Thursday, where a massive chimney collapse has left many workers trapped and casualties are also feared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The exact number of casualties or injuries is yet to be confirmed. Rescue operation is underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident occurred in the afternoon at the plant located in the Saragaon area of the district, Mungeli Superintendent of Police Bhojram Patel said, reported PTI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per preliminary information, the silo, an iron structure used to store bulk materials crashed, trapping under it some workers present at the site, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After being alerted, police reached the spot and a rescue operation was launched, the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So far, two injured workers have been rescued and shifted to a hospital in Bilaspur, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many more workers are reported to be trapped under the collapsed structure and efforts are being made to pull them out, the official added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
