{"id":132898,"date":"2025-01-19T10:02:51","date_gmt":"2025-01-19T04:32:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/?p=132898"},"modified":"2025-01-19T10:24:13","modified_gmt":"2025-01-19T04:54:13","slug":"west-bengal-farmer-gets-rebirth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/west-bengal-farmer-gets-rebirth\/","title":{"rendered":"Rare Surgery at Hi-Tech Medical College &amp; Hospital saves life of West Bengal farmer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"caps\">\u00a0<em><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">The patient had been enduring severe pain in his left leg (calf region) that made walking even a few steps an unbearable task.\u00a0<\/mark><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">By Nalini Sahu<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bhubaneswar, Jan. 15: A farmer from West Bengal, suffering from a rare condition affecting the popliteal artery, has literally got rebirth after successfully undergoing a life-saving surgery at Hi-Tech Medical College, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The patient, Bhimlesh Mana who was admitted to the hospital on January 3, 2025, was discharged after he recovered from the critical ailment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the hospital authorities, Mana had been enduring severe pain in his left leg (calf region) that made walking even a few steps an unbearable task.&nbsp; Having sought treatment at multiple hospitals without relief, he had arrived at Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital with a bleeding swelling on the anterior aspect of his leg, just below the knee. The swelling was accompanied by clots, further complicating his condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A detailed examination, including CT and MR angiography, revealed a pseudoaneurysm of the popliteal artery. The aneurysm had extended anteriorly through the interosseous membrane between the tibia and fibula.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognising the urgency of the situation, a seven-hour-long surgery was conducted by a team led by Dr Chinmaya Chiranjib Samal, senior plastic and microvascular surgeon) and &nbsp;Dr Samprit Samal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">\u201cThe procedure involved the excision of the pseudoaneurysm and the placement of a bypass vein graft to restore proper blood flow to the affected area. Post-surgery, the limb showed good blood perfusion, and the wound area remained warm, indicating successful restoration of circulation,\u201d said Dr Chinmaya Chiranjib Samal.<\/mark><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The patient\u2019s recovery was smooth and uneventful. After five days of observation and planning for definitive closure, he was discharged on oral medications.
