Under the flagship CM Kisan Yojana, the state government transferred over Rs 1,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 50 lakh farmers across Odisha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The direct benefit transfer (DBT) initiative ensured that around 50 lakh eligible farmers received Rs 4,000 each as part of the scheme\u2019s latest installment. The funds were credited seamlessly into their bank accounts, providing timely support for the ongoing farming season and reinforcing the government\u2019s commitment to safeguarding farmers&#8217; interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Announcing the disbursement, CM Majhi reiterated his administration\u2019s unwavering dedication to improving the welfare of farmers, who form the backbone of the state&#8217;s economy. \u201cOur farmers are the true custodians of Odisha\u2019s prosperity. This initiative is a humble token of our gratitude for their relentless contribution to ensuring food security and sustaining livelihoods,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CM Kisan Yojana, introduced by the Majhi-led government in 2025 during Nuakhai, provides Rs 4,000 per farmer annually, disbursed in two equal installments \u2014 one during Nuakhai, a significant harvest festival in western Odisha, and the other on Akshaya Tritiya, which marks the commencement of the agricultural season. This consistent financial assistance aims to empower farmers with essential resources for purchasing seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs, thereby enhancing productivity and resilience in the face of climatic and economic challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Agriculture continues to be a pivotal sector in Odisha, engaging nearly 60 per cent of the state&#8217;s population and contributing substantially to its economy. Initiatives like the CM Kisan Yojana are viewed as crucial interventions, ensuring financial security for farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The state government has underlined that such programmes will be further scaled up in the coming years to cover more beneficiaries and expand infrastructural and technological support in rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials from the department of agriculture and farmers\u2019 empowerment noted that the funds have already been credited to farmers\u2019 accounts through DBT, ensuring transparency and eliminating middlemen. The move has been widely welcomed by farmer associations and rural communities, who expressed optimism about the government\u2019s proactive approach towards agrarian
