{"id":140557,"date":"2025-08-09T19:55:31","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T14:25:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/?p=140557"},"modified":"2025-08-09T19:55:32","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T14:25:32","slug":"sumum-organises-cme-on-advances-in-orthopedics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/sumum-organises-cme-on-advances-in-orthopedics\/","title":{"rendered":"SUMUM ORGANISES CME ON ADVANCES IN ORTHOPEDICS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"caps\"><strong>By Payal Banarjee<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bhubaneswar, Aug. 9:<\/strong> Subjects including advances in fracture management, updates in joint replacement, mobility restoration techniques and preventive strategies&nbsp; to maintain bone strength in the elderly were discussed at a Continuing Medical Education (CME) organised at the SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) here on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event, under the theme \u2018Old is Gold\u2014360\u00b0 Care for the Elderly: Ensuring Mobility, Dignity and Longevity\u2019, was organised by the hospital\u2019s Department of Orthopedics to mark the India Orthopedic Association\u2019s Bone and Joint Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It featured expert sessions led by Dr. Budheswar Majhi, Senior Consultant, Dr. Siddhartha Samal, Senior Consultant, Dr. Chandan Panda, Consultant and Dr. Surya Kanta Sahoo, Associate Consultant who presented the latest scientific updates and stressed the importance of prioritizing bone health in individuals above 60 years of age as part of holistic geriatric care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing the CME, Dr. Swetapadma Dash, hospital\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, said \u201chealthy bones and joints are the foundation of an active, independent life. By bringing together orthopedic experts and frontline healthcare providers, we are not just sharing knowledge but building a stronger, more confident approach to care that empowers patients, especially the senior citizens to live life to the fullest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt SUMUM, we have always been a beacon of excellence in healthcare and events like this showcase our dedication to staying at the forefront of medical advancements for the well-being of our community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brig. (Dr.) Biraj Mohan Mishra, the hospital\u2019s Chief of Medical Services, said orthopedics being central to functional independence at any age and also for the elderly, it plays an even greater role in preserving dignity and quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of Siksha \u2018O\u2019 Anusandhan, in a message, said healthcare must evolve in keeping with the needs of the society while caring for the elderly was a shared responsibility. \u201cPrograms like these reflect SUMUM\u2019s mission of combining excellence in medical science with compassion and
