NEW DELHI, NOV 13 : Troubles don’t seem to end for Haryana’s Al-Falah University after it came into the spotlight following its links to the Red Fort blast accused and a terror module involving the Jaish-e-Mohammed. On Thursday, the university’s website was taken down as it received a show-cause notice from NAAC for displaying a false accreditation claim. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will probe the university’s funding as well as the financial transactions of its doctors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The institution in Faridabad’s Dhauj village grabbed national attention after it emerged that Dr Umar Nabi, who carried out the Red Fort blast, killing 13 people, was employed there. Apart from Dr Umar, two of his accomplices, Dr Muzammil Shakeel and Dr Shaheen Shahid, part of a “white collar” terror network, also worked at the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The busting of the terror module and the arrests of doctors Muzammil and Shaheen have drawn increased scrutiny of the functioning of the university. In Arabic, ‘Al-Falah’ means success or prosperity. The week, however, has been disastrous for the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ACCREDITATION ROW SNOWBALLS<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday, NAAC, an autonomous body under the Union Education Ministry, in its notice, said the institution’s accreditation had expired and asked why legal action should not be taken against it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NAAC said the ‘Grade A’ accreditation displayed on the university’s website was “absolutely wrong and misleading the public”. The Al-Falah administration has been asked to respond in seven days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology’s ‘Grade A’ accreditation expired in 2018, while that of the Al-Falah School of Education and Training was valid from 2011 to 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Medical Commission (NMC) said appropriate action would be taken against the university following an investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sources said the ED would now conduct a detailed probe into the financial transactions of Al-Falah University and individuals allegedly involved in the Delhi blast case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision was taken following a meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the ED director earlier today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ED will examine potential money trails and suspicious transfers of the accused doctors employed by Al-Falah University. Additionally, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the Delhi blast, will look into the alleged terror financing aspect linked to the busted Faridabad module.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
POLICE REACH AL-FALAH HEAD OFFICE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So far, over 50 employees of the university and doctors associated with the hospital in its premises have been questioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday, a team of the Haryana Police reached the headquarters of Al-Falah University in Okhla, Delhi, to obtain documents related to the three accused doctors. It is here that all the recruitment of the university is overseen and all administrative work carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Umar Nabi, who carried out the blast, was sacked from his previous workplace, the Government Medical College in Anantnag, following the death of a patient due to his negligence. Despite having a dubious past, he was recruited at Al-Falah in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With fresh details tumbling out every passing day on the terror conspiracy, the scrutiny around Al-Falah University is likely to increase in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
