MADHYA PRADESH,JAN 19 : In its recently launched Indore Beggar Eradication Campaign, the Madhya Pradesh government has identified Mangilal, a beggar who has accumulated wealth worth crores through begging. The government has come across that Magnilal owns three houses in different parts of the city, and also provides loans to people in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The beggar, who has grabbed a lot of attention after being identified by the Women and Child Development team in the state, is also a beneficiary of a one-BHK house as part of a combined initiative by the state government and the Red Cross. However, he did not stop begging and became a regular on the streets of Indore using a wooden card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per further information, Mangilal also owns three autos, which he rents out. In addition, he has a Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which he also uses for renting purposes. His residential properties include a three-storied building in Indore\u2019s Bhagat Singh Nagar, Shivnagar, and Alwas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apart from renting out cars and autos, Mangilal also earns by being a part-time moneylender to people in Indore\u2019s Sarafa Bazaar area at interest rates. He regularly visits Sarafa and collects Rs 400\u2013500 from people, among whom he has become a known face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After identifying him, the District Nodal Officer told India Today that several people complained against him to the state administration, and as a result, the Women and Child Development team rescued him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, District Program Officer Rajeesh Sinha said that the state administration will continue with strict measures, and the people who either promote or engage in begging will face strict action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
