NEW DELHI, JAN 20 : Police on Tuesday arrested a real estate developer in connection with the death of techie, whose car had plunged into a deep pit at a construction site in Noida’s Sector 150, said police sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Abhay Kumar, an official of MZ Wiztown Planners and one of the accused in the case, has been arrested,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Hemant Upadhyay said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police said that they have arrested Abhay Kumar, one of the owners of Wishtown Planners Pvt Ltd. There are no official updates on action against the other accused firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police have filed an FIR against two real estate developers — MZ Wiztown Planners and Lotus Greens — on a complaint by the victim’s father, Raj Kumar Mehta, who alleged negligence by local authorities and sought accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The autopsy report revealed that his nose was blocked with mud and water, and there was water in his lungs and chest, according to media reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report is said to have cited the cause of death as asphyxia due to ante-mortem drowning, followed by cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mehta was returning to his residence at Tata Eureka Park in Sector 150 from his Gurugram office late on January 16. Amid dense winter fog that reduced visibility to near zero, his Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara veered off the road and plunged into a deep, water-filled excavation pit on a vacant plot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday ordered a probe by a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) and directed it to submit a comprehensive report within five days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The family alleged serious administrative lapses, saying the \u201clack of divers\u201d cost Yuvraj his life. \u201cThe officials and staff present were unable to save him. They did not have any divers. There is negligence on the part of the administration in this entire matter,\u201d the victim\u2019s father told media persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy son was struggling to save himself. He was crying out for help, asking people to help him, but most of the crowd was just watching. Some people were making videos. My son struggled for two hours to save his life,\u201d he recalled, demanding strict action and better safety arrangements to prevent similar incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
